Sustainable Benefits Program Features

NFLEXion Consulting’s suite of Sustainable Benefits Services provides flexible implementation to allow APC users to evaluate and update their legacy Advanced Control applications at any stage stages in the application lifecycle. Services include:

APC Performance Assessment Audit – Evaluate current APC performance, determine update requirements and develop priority-based action plans with recommendations and estimated ROI benefits.

APC Updater – Update advanced control loops and operator graphics to reflect current operation and objectives, tune control loops, and train operators to establish confidence and get loops back on control.

APC Performance Maintenance – Regular, periodic maintenance of the advanced controls on your schedule, with control evaluation, retune and/or update of loops, operator refresh training and control performance report.

APC Training – Domain control experts present what-you-need-to-know application knowledge and skills to application users and technical staff to understand control loop how’s and whys. Increased confidence gets loops on control and performing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My mill has an Advanced Control Package from older advanced controls, but we have added process improvements and instrumentation. Can these be integrated into the control strategies?

A: Yes, nFLEXion has experience making small and large changes to existing advanced controls, integrating simple new instrumentation as well as major, process changes and controls.

Q: What APC packages can be updated and tuned?
A: We have experience implementing and tuning paper machine MD and CD controls, adding actuator packages, stock prep and coater kitchen controls; continuous and batch digester advanced controls, refiner specific energy, bleach plant and brown stock washer advanced controls. We have also programmed boiler soot blower controls and provided control diagnostics for most areas of the pulp mill.

Q: Our mill has process controls that were developed way back by in-house personnel that have now moved on. Can these be updated to reflect the current hardware and instrumentation.

A: Yes, nFLEXion has experience evaluating the status and performance of controls developed in-house or by other vendors, making update recommendations and, in most cases, performing and maintaining the updates.
