| Training is provided to plant maintenance and process
control staff to provide the knowledge necessary to maintain and optimize
the MD control application.
The student will be able to:
- Bump manipulated variables and see the
response in controlled variables
- Build Single In Single Out (SISO) models
- Build Multiple In Multiple Out (MIMO)
models
- Build new control models
- Use engineering schematics to manipulate
tuning parameters
- Optimize control performance by
manipulating user objectives
- Use file I/O functions to create, delete,
and name model files
- Create a new grade file
- Link models to grade files
- Use file I/O functions to create, delete,
and name grade files
- Maintain model and grade data
- Troubleshoot and diagnose control problems
Documentation
The
training manual is written in a format that flows with the curriculum from
start to finish. A copy of the manual is provide to each student and is
written in written to be useful as a reference document as well.

Format
Training is held over three days on-site in both
classroom and on-process locations. Material is covered in the classroom
and procedures are performed on the actual process under controlled
conditions. Students benefit from performing tuning on their actual
process while care is taken to ensure that there is no operational impact.
All that is required is a conference room with a white board for the
classroom and access to an TDC3000 engineering console in a relatively
noise-free area ideally out of the way of operators.
